The website of the Technical Information Center (TIC), which brings together academic research, technical studies and memoirs related to the Fundão dam collapse, has a new look. Its latest update has a more intuitive navigability, in addition to bringing features that facilitate access and sharing of information. Click here and browse the interactive platform.
The website provides a collaborative digital collection with stories from communities in the Doce River Basin, in addition to records on the reparation process in the affected regions. The repository contained in the platform is divided into collections, such as “Records of the Affected Territory”, “Technical documents” and “Academic studies”, with resources that guarantee participatory construction.
The Records of the Affected Territory collection brings testimonials, stories and impressions of those affected about their traditions, customs and cultural practices, related or not to the collapse. The space shares the record of memories of communities and experiences through texts, videos, images or audios.
Technical documents and Academic Studies include academic research and technical studies from different areas of knowledge that address the impacts of the collapse, consequences and the reparation process in the territories. Researchers, technicians, professionals, students and interested parties can consult, send their work and contribute to the digital collection.
The contribution of researchers enriches the construction of knowledge and the participation of the community highlights the relevance of this project for the preservation and availability of all shared content. To participate, simply fill out a form, on the website, with the information and upload it to be organized by the responsible team, who will contact you to confirm the publication.

- Knowledge of the Agenda
The scientific and technical dissemination project is linked to the “Technical Documents” and “Academic Studies” collections on the TIC platform. In webinars that are recorded and made available on the website, researchers and scholars on topics related to the collapse and the damage reparation process present their work and interact with the participants.
The initiative is in its second cycle, which runs until December, and six researchers were selected to present their work. The first edition, held in 2021, had the participation of five speakers from areas that included forest restoration, intangible heritage, rural development and family farming or mining.
Interested people can also access the e-book of the 1st cycle Knowledge of the Agenda: connecting knowledge, creating paths, with a synthesis of the works presented by researchers in the previous cycle. The proposal of the material is to bring an accessible language and visual resources that facilitate the understanding of the content.
- Trails of Memories
The Trails of Memories are workshops in which residents of the affected territories relate their memories and share experiences about the collapse and the place where they live. After the actions, mentoring is carried out for the production of audiovisual and textual records to be hosted on the interactive platform, in the collection “Reports of the affected territory”.
The reflections, conversations, exchanges of experiences and the products created by the groups during the process are also presented in a virtual exhibition with the presence of those involved. The first cycle, held in 2021, had the participation of approximately eight residents of affected municipalities in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, which addressed traditions and popular wisdom, traditional festivals, cultural memories and affective relationships with the Doce River, among other topics.
