The students of Bento Rodrigues now have a new place for learning and integration. The Municipal School of Bento Rodrigues was delivered to the community on the morning of May 8. The new building, located on Avenida Nossa Senhora do Carmo in Mariana (MG), was rented, renovated and furnished by the Renova Foundation to welcome students and the entire school community.

Since the collapse, the institution had been using classrooms provided by the Dom Luciano Municipal School. Now the school will operate in the new property until the resettlement is completed. With a capacity to attend 98 elementary school, middle school and high school students, the new structure has six classrooms, a cafeteria, a library and an area for practicing physical activities.

“Our biggest challenge was the issue of space, mainly because we have several projects of our own with the students and we like to hold exhibitions of these works. Now, in a space that is ours alone, we will be able to continue these activities”, says Eliene Geralda dos Santos, the school’s principal.
