Actions contribute to having the distributed water meet the parameters for potability
Infrastructure works performed in 16 Water Treatment Plants (ETAs) in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo and the preventive actions during the rainy season, made it possible to have the water distributed to the population meet the potability parameters stipulated by the Ordinance of Potability 2914/2011, of the Ministry of Health.
The works include, among others, the improvement to filter beds, the safety of the water treatment plants, such as the installation of handrails and protection for systems related to chemicals dosing and application, as well as water tanks. For the technical coordinator of the Water Supply Systems Improvement Program in Colatina (ES), Diogenes Nascimento Rosa, there is the feeling of accomplishment in relation to the population’s water supply. “We are leaving a legacy for the people and for the next administration. We were able to improve some processes, which will stay in the future even after the departure of the Renova teams “, he says.

CONSTANT MONITORING
The quality of the water treated by the plants is monitored frequently. The focus is to verify the presence of iron, aluminum and manganese metals that are part of the composition of tailings and that could have a larger impact on the water quality after the collapse of the Fundão dam.
The Renova Foundation monitors and provides technical assistance to the ETA’s of nine municipalities:
