The legal action related to the collapse of the Fundão dam has no relation to the repair measures carried out by the entity

The Renova Foundation clarifies that the suspension of the legal action related to the collapse of the Fundão dam in Mariana has no relation with the repair measures carried out by the entity. These are completely different situations and all activities and programs continue to be carried out normally by the Renova Foundation, which has secured resources to fully comply with its actions.

Up to June 2017, R$ 2.2 billion were disbursed for repair and compensation actions related to the impacts generated by the collapse of the Fundão dam. The Renova Foundation is expected to apply R$ 4.4 billion in the first three years of its operations (2016, 2017 and 2018) in the execution of its 42 programs and a further R$ 500 million for actions related to sanitation and solid waste in the affected municipalities.

Until July 2017, more than 200,000 people were assisted in the programs of financial assistance, indemnification and anticipation. The amounts paid in indemnities reach approximately R$ 430 million.

The Renova Foundation is an autonomous and non-profit institute founded to repair the damage caused by the collapse of the Fundão dam, located in Mariana (MG). It was established by means of the Transaction and Conduct Adjustment Term (TTAC), signed between Samarco, Vale, BHP, the federal government and the state governments of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo, as well as several authorities, foundations and institutes like Ibama, the Chico Mendes Institute, the National Water Agency, the State Forestry Institute, Funai, among others.
