Young Leadership Training

Institutions receive funds for environmental, social, economic and cultural revitalization actions in the Doce River basin

The five partner institutions of the Young Leadership Training program began to receive funds for the execution of 58 projects. With support from the Renova Foundation, approximately R$1 million will be allocated to environmental, social, economic and cultural revitalization actions in 41 municipalities. The objective is to mobilize and engage young people aged between 15 and 29 in the process of repairing the Doce River basin. Click to see the selected projects in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

The action is developed in partnership with the Community Center for Culture and Development (CPCD) Geraldo Perlingeiro Abreu Foundation; Integrated Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Programs (CIEDS) Minas Gerais Association of Family Farming Schools – AMEFA; and Lumiar Ambiental. Divided into five areas, each institution prepared an action project. The purpose was to create opportunities, through educational processes to promote youth participation and increase the possibilities of acting in local development, social and socio-environmental issues. Background

In 2020, the Renova Foundation announced the Youth Agenda, with the aim of bringing together initiatives to mobilize and engage young people from the Doce River Basin.

In the first half of 2021, training courses were offered to around 1,200 young people. The classes included historical, socioeconomic and socio-environmental aspects related to the Doce River basin. Then, the institutions worked with their own conceptual methodology, proposed in the initial plan presented and approved in the RFP.
