After the workshop, the students presented an online show with the puppets produced during classes

With the support of the Doce RFP and the City of Mariana, in Minas Gerais, the Cultural Impulse project, created by puppeteer Catin Nardi, promoted a free online workshop for the creation and construction of puppets and puppets made with recyclable materials. The action had the participation of more than 200 children from the Minas Gerais municipality, who received the first kits with the material at home. The project ended with the pocket show “Kids”, with the dolls made by the students. The result can be seen on the Teatro Navegante de Catin Nardi channel, on YouTube.

“The demand for the workshop was great. Thus, more people spontaneously participated. In the manipulation workshop, my forecast was 70 participants and we had 160 present”, says Catin Nardi. In addition to the workshop, a virtual exhibition of the artist’s works and the creations of the participants was held, which can be seen on the company’s Flickr.

In addition to providing families with a playful moment with their children in the midst of the pandemic, the Cultural Impulse awakened in children an interest in dolls and awareness of recyclable materials and the importance of conscientious consumption.

Doce RFP

Created by the Renova Foundation to promote and support cultural, tourism, sport and recreation activities in the regions affected by the Fundão dam collapse, in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, the Doce RFP had, this year alone, around 150 projects started. So far, this has represented around 500 jobs and benefited approximately 63,000 people. In total, R$13.5 million will be earmarked for the 228 projects selected in the two states.
