Recreation

Action is part of a combination of investments by the Renova Foundation in the area around the Doce River mouth with projects that stimulate the economy, tourism and quality of life

A new recreation area will be opened for residents of the Povoacao, in Linhares. Built by the Renova Foundation, the public park features a playground with swings, seesaws and other playground equipment designed by a specialized company. The area also features playground equipment for children with special needs.

The official public opening will be held this Saturday (12/23), at 4pm, and includes the participation of the town’s Association of Residents. During the inauguration, children can enjoy the playground and the recreational activities organized for the little ones. The park, located next to the Catholic church of the district, meets the need raised by residents to provide children with new recreational options.

A similar project was finalized for the community of Regencia this March. The areas built in these two locations are part of a combination of short-term projects carried out along the Doce River mouth by the Renova Foundation. The region, impacted by the collapse of the Fundao dam, is receiving actions that include infrastructure, employment and income generation, and stimulus of tourism and quality of life of its residents.

Resources

For this first stage of projects alone, there is an expected initial investment of more than R$ 3.5 million going to actions in the region of the river mouth, where about 4 thousand people live. Among the initiatives are sewing groups to stimulate the local economy, leisure areas, vocational training for residents, community garden, beekeeping, ecological walkway, renovation of the Water Treatment Plant of Regencia and fish farming. There will also be other structural and long-term projects in the districts.

All the initiatives are based on suggestions by the communities and structured by Renova, through collective construction. For the implementation of the actions, the hiring of labor within the community will be prioritized. The projects are aimed at boosting tourism and improving the quality of life of the residents, as well as ensuring new income alternatives for the population, diversifying the local economy.
