The Renova Foundation participated in an event in Monaco on the commitment to plant one trillion trees worldwide by 2020

The Renova Foundation believes that transformations happen through the convergence of objectives through networks. For this reason, the German NGO Plant-for-the-Planet is an important partner in education and remediation actions. Last week, Roberto S. Waack, Renova’s CEO, participated in the launch of the Plant-for-the-Planet campaign called 1 trillion trees by 2020, which took place in Monaco and included the participation of relevant institutions related to environmental causes in the world, global leaders, entrepreneurs and opinion makers, such as WWF, WRI and UN.

Besides Waack, a young girl from Mariana, Narrian Gomes, also attended the event. She represented the 200 Climate Justice Ambassadors trained in the town of Mariana (MG), last year, through a pilot project between Renova, the Municipal Government of Mariana, Plant-for-the-Planet and local institutions.

Narrian announced that Mariana will receive a Plant-for-the-Planet house, with support from Renova and other partners, to receive 10 young volunteers of the ONG from around the world who will be responsible for training new ambassadors in the mining town and along the other municipalities of the Doce River basin.

During the event, Waack highlighted Renova’s challenges in the field of restoration and the importance of strengthening a model of transformation for the Doce River Valley, taking into account the vision of young people for the future of this region.

“Our commitment to restoration provides for planting approximately 50 million trees. We can only make this transformation happen by uniting in partnerships. And that’s exactly the reason why we identify with Plant-for-the-Planet, an institution that values the strength of education, leadership and youth protagonism,” he said.
