Five new towns in Minas Gerais have started participating in the Mediated Indemnity Program (PIM), which aims to reimburse those affected in a simple, timely manner without the procedures and costs of a lawsuit.
Appointments scheduling and attendance have already begun in Alpercata, Galileia and Tumiritinga On June 19, the first appointments are to take place in Itueta and Resplendor. Altogether, about 50 thousand people will be indemnified. The initiative also values the local workforce, directly employing approximately 120 professionals for working on the indemnity processes.
“The impacted families are seeing that what has been talked about is actually happening. Therefore, they are more open to dialogue and gradually show more and more trust in our work”, says Deivisson Campos, coordinator of the Indemnities related to the Interruption to Water Supply and Distribution.

BACKGROUND
In the municipalities of Cachoeira Escura and Pedra Corrida, also in Minas Gerais, attendance began in early May. Moreover, the actions of the PIM already show results in Colatina, in Espirito Santo, where 178 of indemnity cases of minors have been approved by the judiciary. In total, 295 children and adolescents are benefitting.
“The first approvals represent the progress that is being made in the mediated indemnity actions in Colatina. The inauguration in April of the Judicial Center for Conflict Resolution (Cejusc) was a milestone for the initiation of this new stage”, says Robson Sathler, one of those responsible for the indemnity actions in Colatina.
