In January, water level gauges were placed in the Santa Maria River and Pancas River, in Colatina (ES). The structures are located at points close to the water pipelines and make a more accurate monitoring of the water volume possible, detecting if there is enough water to put them in operation and supply the population with the required amount.
Monitoring is done on a daily basis by operators that send the results to the command base in Colatina, contributing to the planning of the operation of the pipelines.
The minimum level that’s needed for their operation is one meter for the Pancas River (3 feet and 3 inches) and half a meter (1 feet and 8 inches) for the Santa Maria River. If the rivers reach this critical point, the supply shall be made by water tank trucks until the recovery of the level. This is another action plan for the rainy season managed by the Renova Foundation.

The water pipelines of the Pancas River and the Santa Maria River were built by the Renova Foundation as alternative sources of water supply for the population of Colatina, in case of any impediment to the water withdrawal from the Doce River.
