Organized by the Renova Foundation in partnership with Senai, civil construction and electrician classes represent a new opportunity for professional training
Residents from Mariana (MG) and region will have a new opportunity to get certified and improve professional skills. As of March 28, the Renova Foundation, the Minas Gerais State Industry Federation (Fiemg) and the National Service of Industrial Education (Senai) are organizing another round of vocational training courses. There are 360 spots available for civil construction and electrician classes.

Those interested in taking the certification courses such as for carpenter, carpenter’s assistant, roofer, roofer assistant, concrete finisher, concrete finisher assistant, and advanced NR-10, may register between March 12 and 20, from 8 am to 8 pm, in the Senai building in Mariana (Rodovia do Contorno Highway, without number, neighborhood Colina – Mariana / MG). Applicants must be 18 years old or over and carry a valid ID and CPF (original and copy). Prior training in the areas is not required. The final results will be communicated on March 21 and enrollment will take place between March 22 and 27.
“Today, there are many experienced professionals in the job market that do not have formal professional certification. These courses will increase the level of employability of the students,” says Francisco Carlos Lima, specialist of Socioeconomic Programs of the Renova Foundation.
One of the goals of the Renova Foundation is to ensure that 60% of the workforce hired for the repair actions is composed of professionals from the towns that were affected by the Fundao dam collapse. In Mariana, the first class graduated in December 2017, certifying 27 civil construction workers. Whereas in the towns of Povoacao and Regencia, Espirito Santo, the courses organized in partnership with the Espirito Santo State Industry Federation (Findes) certified 200 professionals in areas ranging from local cuisine, pattern making and sewing to carpentry.
