Implementation of the space is part of the commitments signed between the Renova Foundation and the City Hall

To strengthen local businesses, promote an entrepreneurial culture and expand the formalization of productive and commercial activities, the municipality of Mariana (MG) now has the Entrepreneur’s House. Located at Rua Luiz Antônio Bastos, 25 – Centro (next to the Railway Station), the new space opened its doors in February this year.

Entrepreneur’s House is a support environment for entrepreneurs in the municipality, offering agile service, aimed at reducing bureaucracy in processes and training. One of the main activities at the site is the Innovation Hub, a space for business acceleration to promote innovative and sustainable projects in the municipality.

The infrastructure also has a multifunctional room, warehouse, pantry and bathrooms.

The Renova Foundation was responsible for renovating a public property, owned by the Municipality of Mariana, and for purchasing furniture and equipment for the new space. The site will also house the Economic Development Secretariat of the municipality, the Sala Mineira of the Commercial Register of the State of Minas Gerais (Jucemg) and the Sala Mineira do Empreendedor, in partnership with the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses (Sebrae).

During the inauguration of the space, a conversation was held with the theme “Why undertake and innovate?”, with Paulo Lacerda, a professional with more than 30 years of experience in the areas of strategy, management and institutional relations.

“Entrepreneur’s House is an instrument that will help organize Mariana’s business environment. There, opportunities for nascent companies will be developed. For us, at the Renova Foundation, it is an enormous satisfaction to fulfill a responsibility with the municipality”, says the Economy and Innovation Coordinator of the Renova Foundation, Ana Lage. With the completion of the works, the Municipality of Mariana becomes responsible for managing the space.

Mariana’s Letter

The realization of Entrepreneur’s House was one of the commitments signed between the Renova Foundation and the Municipality of Mariana, in 2019, in the Term of Commitment known as “Mariana’s Letter”. The document presented a set of compensatory initiatives that transcend the reparative scope, with the objective of promoting economic diversification, infrastructure improvements and the sustainable development of the municipality.

Currently, the Renova Foundation is moving towards finalizing the commitments that were signed. In addition to the Entrepreneur’s house, the following actions are completed:

– Renovation and expansion of the Child and Adolescent Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS IJ);

– Regeneration of Praça Gomes Freire. Work completed in December 2020 and officially received by the municipality in July 2021;

– Acquisition of the necessary infrastructure and technical assistance to prepare the georeferencing and Mariana Master Plan: actions already concluded and aimed at sustainable orderly growth for the city;

– Contributions to encourage tourism, one of the main local production chains, with enormous income generation potential, based on support for sporting events such as the Iron Biker;

– Making land available for social housing. Acquisition, donation and transfer of property to the municipality took place in August 2020;

– Implementation of the Business District of Mariana. The resource transfer term for the implementation of the district was signed in October 2022, as a result of the partnership between the Renova Foundation, BDMG and the Municipality of Mariana;

– Readjustment of the Mariana Sanitary Landfill and the creation of a R$15 million fund so that the City Hall can manage operations for five years.
