The Renova Foundation informs that on Wednesday (11/06) it filed a proposal with the 12th Federal Court to close the requests for registration for individual indemnities.

According to TTAC clause 19, the registration process should remain open for eight months from the date the agreement is signed. However, given the challenges, the process has remained active longer than anticipated, now in its fourth year of implementation since the Fundao dam collapsed in November 2015.

In the emergency period, shortly after the collapse, active searches were carried out in the territory to register the affected people. After the Renova Foundation was created, in addition to incorporating the cases of the emergency period, it carried out several Integrated Registration campaigns supported by various customer service channels and actions that enabled the registration of more than 170 thousand people.

Renova Foundation’s Integrated Register, pursuant to clause 23 of the Transaction and Conduct Adjustment Term (TTAC),“serves as a reference for scaling and quantifying all socioeconomic programs” and not just for indemnity purposes. Therefore, we propose to concentrate the program actions on the handling of the already registered requests and on the public of the other reparation and compensation programs provided for in the TTAC.

It is important to note that any person who is the plaintiff of an individual lawsuit still pending judgment on the closing date of the registration process, may, if eligible, receive compensation through the Mediated Indemnity Program (PIM).

About Registration

The purpose of the Registration Program is to collect information on the people, families and properties that have declared impacts resulting from the Fundao dam collapse in the socioeconomic TTAC area of scope. This information is used to conduct studies and socioeconomic assessments aimed at supporting the implementation of repair and compensation actions.
