Call for sharing experiences and good practices: Education for the Revitalization of the Doce River Basin collects over 60 reports of experiences

The objective is to learn about and value experiences and good practices that take place in or outside the Doce River Basin in relation to the processes of education and revitalization of basins. These will result in a meeting where this knowledge and inspiration can be exchanged for constructing the Educational Program for the Revitalization of the Doce River Basin.

In order to collaboratively construct the Educational Program for the Revitalization of the Doce River Basin, the Renova Foundation has collected, through a call, reports of experiences and knowledge related to the education, protection and revitalization of river basins. The objective was to learn about and value experiences and good practices that take place in or outside the Doce River Basin, in relation to the processes of education and revitalization of basins, and that will result in a meeting to exchange knowledge and inspiration for the elaboration of the Educational Program for the Revitalization of the Doce River Basin.

By the end of the enrollment, on August 31, the Renova Foundation had received 66 reports of experiences from over 36 municipalities, of which 16 were affected by the collapse, 8 from other towns along the Doce River Basin and 12 from municipalities part of other hydrographic basins. Not only individuals participated but also organizations of various sectors of society, such as: AMDA, Instituto Terra, CPCD, UFVJM, UNI-BH, Caritas – Colatina, Association of Fishermen and Friends of the Doce River (APARD), Ecological Association Sete Salões Brigade, Relictos Foundation for Support to the Doce River State Park, Legado das Águas – Votorantim, Instituto Elos, Instituto pelo Bem do Planeta, Raul Soares Town Hall, Image Workshop, Osquindo, Instituto EcoEduc, Association of Planters of Água de Alegre/ES, IBIO, IEF – MG, CONSEP – Belo Oriente/MG, Instituto Soledade – Munhuaçu/MG, Nativa Socioambiental, Catholic Church of Ipaba-MG, Ecological Farm of Guarapari, among others.

Of the 66 registered reports of experiences, 40 will be selected to participate in the Event for Sharing Stories and Know-How for the Revitalization of the Rio Doce Basin, from September 27th to 28th, in the Doce River State Park. These experiences will supplement the elaboration of the Education Program for Revitalization of the Doce River Basin and will be published in a book.
