On November 6, 2024, the Renegotiation Agreement between Samarco, its shareholders Vale and BHP, and the federal and state governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo was approved.
The agreement, signed on October 25, 2024, replaces the Transaction and Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TTAC) signed in 2016 and establishes that Samarco will gradually assume the management of compensation, resettlement and environmental repair actions, currently led by the Renova Foundation.
The estimated budget for implementing the initiatives provided for in the agreement is R$32 billion. Among the commitments assumed by Samarco are the completion of the works on the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Mercês, in Bento Rodrigues, and the São José Parish Church, in Barra Longa, Minas Gerais. The Technical Reserve is also expected to continue for a period of 12 months, the period necessary to decide the destination of the pieces and collection at the site.

Transition
The transition will take place over the next 12 months, in a gradual and planned manner, considering the characteristics and level of complexity of each action, as well as the interaction with partners, the Public Authorities and Samarco itself.
Ongoing reparation actions will continue to be carried out without interruption. During this period, the Renova Foundation will keep its service channels active, ensuring continued support and dialogue with the affected communities.
